I run Punaweb and my opinion would be for thi HPP forum to hang in there if at all possible. I think that a subdivision as large as HPP should have this available. It may nothave caught afire yet and it may not, hard to guess. But I think a diversity of communication assets good. It is also possible that Punaweb could get wiped out. The Hiloweb forum got hammered by spammers and at Punaweb I am fighting a daily battle with evil interet forces too.
You have my vote or endorsement if that helps at all. I thank you for being there.

We have owned property in HPP for over 20 years. We lived on the island for over seven years (1.5 of those were in HPP).
We are currently off-island owners of two lots. We're glad this forum is still here. It helps to give us an idea of what's going on in our neighborhood. We're looking forward to returning and retiring in HPP.

I am a brand new owner in HPP and just found this site for the first time. Absolutely keep it up IMHO. As a webmaster on a few of my own sites one thing I have found is that "just being there" will not nessessarily bring people to your site. Like anything else people find out about websites through many different ways. I found this board totally by accident by clicking on a link on the official HPP web site. With as many residents as are in the community it does seem that there is a smaller percentage of traffic as compared to what there should be per capita. Maybe a few small tricks would help lead people here. I'm thinking mention/reminders in HPP official documentation, maybe a few little road signs and a couple of fliers at the stores bulletin boards in Keauu and Pahoa? Another thing that is just HUGE with any website is the web address. I apoligise for any ruffeled feathers but people will have a really hard time remembering "http://hppneighbor.proboards30.com/". There is a way to cure this in cyber-land though. At this moment (maybe not tomorow if the bad guys read this) Both hpppuna.com and hpphawaii.com are available, and there are likely several hundred other easy-to-remember web names that would work just as well. Something like that can be bought and a super easy re-direct to this site can be done. That way there is no extra work to be done changing this site, and the easy name can be had. Yeah, great, first post for the new guy and he writes a book!.....

I'm new to the forum and I think it's great! But, I do have a difficult time with the colors. I think it should be toned down a bit so it will be easier on the eyes. Other than that, I like the way all the useful information is filed & saved for reference instead of having to weed thru it like some of the other puna websites.

Several months ago I tried changing colors and was asked to put them back to this green/brown format -- what colors would you prefer?

The green & brown works but the green could be much lighter. The wallpaper might look better with a simple hawaiian motif design just to make the overall page look softer/happier.

I agree. The dark green makes it hard to read the text. If green is your color of choice....then a lighter green would work.

I would also prefer a much lighter green as I find it hard to read with a dark green background.

The color options are limited. Light green was also hard to read.
How do you all like this?
Also keep in mind...We are receiving this site free of charge from Proboards. If they ever go out of business or discontinues there free service then we will have to create/find another free service.

I also get a different background color as a guest or logged in. In either case, it is much easier to read than the dark green.
Thanks!!!

According to our optometrist the colors that are most soothing to readers eyes are shades of gray & green. The reason most sun glass lenses are a shade of either color. We enjoy the natural, lush & exotic colors of Hawaii which are predominately blue & green. Personally we do not like the new "khaki" color. It's like signing in to the Sahara desert!

I agree about the khaki camel sign in color but the yellow is fine by me. The darker green made my eyes buggy, so buggy I couldn't read anymore. Besides, who reads with their sunglasses on;-)
