I put forward a direct request for any of the board of directors to answer the earlier question....Who owns and has the authority to develop these properties? Does any of the Board Members even visit or comment on the site? Do they feel this is an inappropriate medium to channel information?

I attended the regular meeting of the HPP Community Master Plan Review Committee Wednesday evening and have been typing a first draft of the proposed revisions. Some of the properties you are asking about are owned by the County of Hawai'i, HPPOA, and some by Watamull Properties, the original developer. These 20-acre parcels have always been designated for varying degrees of commercial and recreational development but County zoning laws have prevented that. There have been recent zoning changes and one of the things the committee is looking into is what development (if any) is now allowed on these parcels. Rest assured that whatever may be allowed by the county, any development will be tightly controlled by the HPPOA; i.e., no strip malls, etc. If you have any questions, a good place to start would be the HPP office at (808) 966-4500. Or, with the map coordinates given in another post, you should be able to access the county tax records and determine the owner of the property of interest and then contact them re future development plans. Anyone who wants to steer the direction of development in HPP is welcome to attend the regular HPP Community Master Plan committee meetings every first and third Wednesday from 5 pm to 6:30 pm at the Activity Center Library. Aloha.
