Hello,
My name is Bill and I'm 53 wanting to buy an acre of property in Paradise Park but would like top speak with someone who is a long time resident of the area. My intentions are to build a small house later and just grow fruit, vegetables and great plants. I have enough for a plot but not the house and would like to get a feel for the pro's and con's before committing my life savings through a Realtor. I would very much appreciate feedback.

Hello, Bill. I'm Jon from Puyallup, Wa. I don't live in HPP but just returned from a nine day trip and stayed in HPP in a nice rental house. We were there partly to find a house to buy, which we did. I met a very nice gent that lives in HPP. He bought a lot and is building his own house there as he can afford it. The house is basically built and all framed, but the plumbing and electrics still need to be put in, then he can finish the inside. He has a small structure that he lived in for a while, but is living in the house now. When he is done he will have no payments whatsoever!!
You can certainly grow a huge variety of fruit and veges there. You can even have some chickens to produce eggs for you. The place we are trying to get already has papaya, pineapple, bananas, and citrus growing and producing.
Have you been to HPP or stayed there for a week or so to try to get the feel of the area?
Hopefully you'll get some responses from some folks that live there. We like HPP a lot, and love the Puna area.
Take care, Jon
